Privacy policy for Scrap
Last updated October 20, 2026
Scrap is a scrapbook wallpaper app for Android, made by Brayan Castaneda De Santiago. This page explains what happens to your information when you use Scrap. The short version: Scrap has no account, no ads and no analytics, and your photos stay on your phone.
What Scrap keeps on your phone
- Photos you add. Scrap makes its own copy of each photo you pick or take, so your book still works if the original is deleted. When it saves the copy, Scrap removes the hidden details cameras add (such as the location where the photo was taken). For each photo it keeps just two plain facts: when the photo was taken, and its size (how wide and how tall it is). That's all. Nobody can see your photo or re-create it from those two facts. Scrap uses them for the date stamp and for Find my photos (see Android backup).
- Your books: layouts, titles, captions and settings.
- A record of what you bought, so paid items work without the internet.
- A few notes about the wallpaper: when it last appeared on each screen, which home screen app you use, and how many times a double-tap opened Scrap's camera. Scrap uses them to show you the right tips, and they go into a feedback email only if you send one (see below).
All of this is stored only on your phone, in Scrap's own private storage. We, the makers of Scrap, never receive it. Scrap has no server.
Camera
Scrap uses your camera only while you have Scrap's camera open, to take photos for your book. When you keep a photo (Add to book, New Key Photo or Save), Scrap also saves the photo itself to your phone's gallery, in an album called Scrap, so you can use it outside Scrap like any other photo. Photos you retake or don't save aren't kept anywhere. If your phone backs up its gallery (for example to Google Photos), those photos are backed up like your others; that is your phone's or Google's service, not Scrap's.
What leaves your phone, and only when you choose
- Save a copy of your book: this saves one file with all the photos in the book, wherever you choose (for example Google Drive). It goes only where you send it. Anyone you give it to can see the photos inside.
- Send feedback: this opens your own email app with a message to us. Nothing is sent until you press Send. The message includes the phone's model, Android version, Scrap version and screen sizes, which home screen app you use, how many times a double-tap opened Scrap's camera, whether Scrap is the wallpaper on the screen you're using, and when Scrap's wallpaper last appeared on each screen, so we can match problems to phones. You can read all of it in the email before you send it, and delete any of it. We receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply and to fix problems, never for marketing. We delete it when it's no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
Purchases
Scrap Plus and packs are sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment; Scrap never sees your card or bank details. Google Play tells Scrap which items your Google account owns, so they unlock on your phone, and Scrap keeps that record on your phone only. Google Play's billing system, which is built into Scrap so you can buy things, may send Google technical reports about how purchases and the connection to Google Play are working. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We don't receive it.
Android backup
If backup is turned on in your phone's settings, Android may back up Scrap's book layouts and settings to your Google account, so they can come back on a new phone. Your photos and purchase records are left out of this backup. The two facts about each photo (when it was taken and its size) come along with your book, so on a new phone you can tap Find my photos, pick your photos again, and Scrap puts each one back in its place. Photos you pick that weren't in your book are left alone. This backup is Google's service, governed by Google's terms; we can't see it.
What Scrap doesn't do
Scrap has no account or sign-in, no advertising, no analytics or tracking, and no friends list or sharing feed. We don't sell or share your information with anyone.
Children
Scrap is not made for children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them. (In fact it collects nothing.)
Deleting your information
Everything Scrap keeps is on your phone. To delete all of it, uninstall Scrap (or clear its storage in your phone's app settings). Photos Scrap's camera saved to your gallery, and book files you saved yourself, stay where they are until you delete them, like any other file. Android backups can be deleted in your Google account's backup settings. To have a feedback email deleted, write to us.
Changes
If Scrap starts handling information differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
